Artist Talk with Alvin Yapan

Lopez Museum and Library brings you an afternoon with filmmaker Alvin Yapan as he talks about his art practice and his short film Ulang Palay this February 28, Saturday, 2015, 2 – 4PM. In addition, he will give us a preview of his new film, the first ten minutes of An Kubo sa Kawayanan (The House by the Bamboo Grove).  Ulang Palay is a short film created by Yapan that speaks of the rice cartels in the Philippines.  An almost meditative video of seemingly endless rain of rice, the bounty is looked at in relation to rice growing in the Philippines and its relation to the power structures in place. Ulang Palay is part of the first major exhibition of the Lopez Museum and Library.
