Through a grant from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Lopez Museum and Library (LML) is pleased to host the Museum Summit titled Plotting Points at the University of Santo Tomas this 30 March – 1 April 2017.
Plotting Points endeavors to bring together museum practitioners from all over the Philippines to reassess the current state of the field in line with developments in programs and policies that are of relevance to the arts and culture sector. This summit engages some of the issues and challenges confronting museums and other cultural institutions in the 21st century by creating opportunities for dialogue and exchanges of ideas, strategies and skills in museum research, operational practices and programming.
Underscoring the important role that the museum takes on in the communities that they are a part, practitioners in the varied but interrelated specializations in the museum will be presented with relevant topics and breakout sessions that highlight the importance of plotting linkages, partnerships and collaborations with other disciplines, and recognize shared responsibilities in helping the attainment of sustainable cultural development.
Keynote address will be delivered by Felice Sta. Maria. The Summit program is broken down into three days: 30 March (Day 1) includes all plenary sessions; 31 March (Day 2) features parallel breakout sessions of various formats such as lectures, workshops, case study presentations and panel discussions. Select breakout sessions are co-presented by Zero-In Museum Consortium and Alliance of Great Manila Area Museums (AGMAM). While 1 April (Day 3) is allotted for site visits in museums and other cultural sites in 3 key areas in Manila: (1) Quezon City (2) Manila; and (3) Pasig and Makati Area.
