(Pasig City) as part of the celebrations in the opening of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ observation of the Year of the Youth, the Vicariate of the Immaculate Conception organized a Youth Day at the Pasig Cathedral last November 30, 2018. One of the events that took place is the inauguration of a Photo and Art Exhibit of the selected photos from the Smiles of the World Photo Competition of the Calidad Humana Project and KableArt of local artist Mr. Ruben Jasareno. As the home of the Calidad Humana Project, the Lopez Group Foundation Inc. spearheaded the exhibition through their partnership with the Pasig (Host) Lions Club and the Vicariate Youth Council of the Immaculate Conception.
The Exhibit’s title: “Ngitian: The story of Youthful Smiles” projects the sense of youthful wonder and exuberance characterized in Calidad Humana’s Ideals of preserving Filipino Values through care and intuitive concern for others especially the youth. The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase the beauty of life and remind the young people that modesty and simplicity are important ingredients to bring about genuine joy and magnanimity. The exhibit likewise featured an array of works by Mr. Ruben Jasareno the progenitor of the KableArt – sculptures and figures formed through the use of recycled cables and wires. Similar to the Calidad Humana, the KableArt subjects usually depict daily activities and works which are the very vassals where values and human “miracles” thrive.
The exhibit was opened by the President of Pasig Catholic College, Rev. Fr. Orlindo Ordona with him was Floribel Carlos, President of Pasig Host Lions Club. Among those present were Mr. Dario Pagcaliwagan of LGFI, Dr. Fe Hidalgo of Knowledge Channel Foundation, Retired Philippine Ambassador to Germany, Melita Sta. Maria Thomeczek, Jared Carlo Echevarria (former Program Manager of the Calidad Humana Project – Energy Development Corporation), selected members of the Parish Pastoral Council of the Pasig Cathedral, club members of the Pasig Host Lions Club, Pasig Achievers Leo club and Parish Youth Ministers from the different churches within the Vicariate.
The exhibit is planned to travel to different Churches in Pasig all throughout the year as way of exposure and campaign in bringing the young people closer to the Church and empowering them to be more values-driven and responsible citizens of their communities.
