ACCORDING to UNICEF, 95 children in the Philippines die every day because of malnutrition. This is one of the reasons Alaska Milk Corporation supports the advocacy of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc. (ALKFI) Bantay Bata 163 in taking care of the welfare of Filipino children. The two entities have sealed a partnership to provide milk products to the kids at Children’s Village.

Atty. Maria Angela Esquivel, corporate affairs director of Alaska Milk, noted that one of the basic rights of a child is survival and that it is something that should be given full attention.

“If you look at promoting children’s rights you also need to focus on the more basic one which is just to survive—the survival rights of the child. It seems ironic when you work with children who are ultimately dying because this basic need of health and nutrition is not being addressed.”

As an organization that empowers proper education and adequate nutrition to children for them to reach their goals, this act from Alaska plays a significant role in helping them makes these dreams possible.

Susan Afan, ALKFI managing director, expressed her gratitude for the support and generosity of Alaska Milk.

“We are very happy to be having this partnership with Alaska Corporation. They are really considering the children’s welfare. We are looking for a long-term partnership as well because many of the problems that we have including nutrition are more long term. So, it’s nice to partner with an organization that thinks long-term just like we do for the welfare of the Filipino children,” Afan said.
