“This training truly helped me understand CSR 101” was how one participant put it after sixteen (16) participants representing ten (10) company locators in the Lopez-owned and managed First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) attended the one-day introductory course on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) held by the Lopez Group Foundation Inc (LGFI) last May 30 at the AVR of FPIP in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Organized by the Association of FPIP Locators Inc. or AFLI, the training dubbed as the CSR 101 Course, was aimed at providing an overview of the element and tools used to conduct CSR both inside and outside a company. The LGFI training team took turns in discussing the history, stages and management of CSR, sharing the use of the project management cycle as a tool in choosing an appropriate CSR project and communicating CSR effectively. The participants were also asked to share their current CSR efforts and were also exposed to a discussion of the CSR practice by SunPower, one of the FPIP locators.
At the end of the day, the participants were asked to share their learning and insights and they gave the course a nod of approval in terms of relevance in content and knowledge of speakers in delivering their topics effectively in spite of the time constraint. Since the course was an introduction on CSR, the participants are asking for more in-depth knowledge and extensive discussion in what they hope would be a much longer advance CSR course from LGFI.
Participants to this course include CSR practitioners and managers from First Philippines Industrial Park, Aikawa Philippines Inc., Brother Industries(Philippines) Inc., Canon Business Machines (Philippines) Inc., SunpowerPhilippines Manufacturing Ltd., NEC Tokin Electronics (Philippines) Inc., Fort Wayne Wire Die (Philippines) Inc.,Japlas Injection Moulders Corporation and IBIDEN Philippines Inc.
