Around 400 Lopez Group employees, composed of family members, and friends, attended the recently concluded "HR Council-Lopez Lifelong Wellness Walk The Talk" (WTT), which was held last July 20, 2019 at the Eugenio Lopez Center (ELC) in Antipolo, Rizal.
Sponsored by First Philippine Realty Corporation (FPRC), First Philippine Electric Corporation (First Philec), and Third Generation Holdings Corporation (Third Gen), the activity went underway with FPRC’s Chiara Vicencio and Jey Pasiona performing the emceeing chores, with Winnah May Bustamante of Third Gen delivering the Invocation, and First Philec’s Jimbooh Como leading the Lopez Credo Recitation portion.
On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of ELC, FPRC General Manager Perry Avecilla then delivered the Welcome Remarks, as well as emphasized that on that exact day, it marked the 118th birth anniversary of Lopez Group founder Eugenio H. Lopez Sr.
A safety and security briefing from ELC’s Hajji Yusop, and Paul Rivera from the Emergency Preparedness Disaster Response Unit of Energy Development Corporation then ensued.
Caloy Campos from the Lopez Group Foundation Inc. (LGFI) then took the stand to launch a new undertaking to be done in forthcoming WTTs, which is the FROM REFUSE TO REFUGE: Simple Acts To Save Our Planet program.
As a show of support, delegates from each company made simple hand-made signages sourced from recycled materials containing words expressing that their companies support the project, and would like to help save the planet too.
In connection with this launch, as one of its sustainability projects, LGFI will be collecting recyclable hard plastics to be turned over to our project partner Plastic Flamingo, a startup company that recycles plastic into planks for emergency shelters. In support of this endeavor, participants are encouraged to bring their used hard plastic containers that they would like to donate for the project. During Walk the Talk events and in selected Lopez company activities, a recyclable container will be provided where participants can drop their plastic containers.
Before the participants tackled the 3.2-kilometer route, a very lively Stretching and Exercise portion courtesy of Gold’s Gym to prepare them for the walk went underway to energize them for the walk.
Making the Walk the Talk the ELC also more engaging was the presence of booth set-ups, which included booths from SKY, ELC, Oscar’s, and some wellness partners.
The 13th anniversary of the WTT will be held at the First Philippine Industrial Park in Santo Tomas, Batangas in August.
