Around 60 employee volunteers from the Lopez Group of Companies took some time out from their usual weekend undertakings to help in the improvement of the surroundings of the Yapak Elementary School in Morong, Rizal in the recently-concluded Lopez Brigada Eskwela held last June 8, 2019.

Hosted by Sky’s Dimpy Jazmines and Lopez Group Foundation’s (LGFI) Caloy Campos, and sponsored by the Knowledge Channel Foundation (KCFI), Lopez Lifelong Wellness, and LGFI, the event started with the Invocation courtesy of one of the teachers, the Philippine National Anthem, and was followed up by the recitation of the Lopez Credo & Values from the new members in the Lopez Lifelong Wellness, Walk-The-Talk Team.

KCFI President Rina LopezBautista and Principal Lolit Mateo took the stage as they delivered the Inspirational and Welcome Remarks respectively to the delight of the crowd.

Before the activity proper began, a safety briefing ensued courtesy of August Villalon from EDC’s Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU).

The traditional Stretching and Exercise portion went underway as two Yapak Elementary students spearheaded the entire crowd in warming up…Zumba style!

A ceremonial turnover of donated books were handed out to the school’s officials by Edric Calma and Bautista of KCFI

Some of the volunteers then proceeded to the vegetable planting area at the back of the school, while the others opted to arrange the school library.

In addition, ERDRU’s Pol Rivera and August Villalon delivered a lecture focusing on handling earthquake and fire situations.

Knowing that several students and teachers, during the first month of the school year, would now have a more conducive learning environment, would just be enough for a Kapamilya volunteer to smile upon.

Mabuhay ka!
