Investments in Loving Organizations for Village Economies (ILove) Foundation, founded by its Chairperson Gina Lopez, formally signed an agreement with ESCA Incorporated, to construct different structures in its eight-assisted sites.
As an Engineering firm, ESCA will provide structural engineering services by using the digital technology to implement the designs created by PDP (People Design Places) Architects.
According to Atty. Jean de Castro, ESCA’s Chief Executive Officer, they want to “elevate the Engineering practice in the Philippines”.
“We’ve always wanted to do things in a new and better way,” she said. “We are now looking at using technology in Engineering so we pioneered the use of building information modelling in the Philippines wherein by using digital technology; building things digitally first, and using technology to build better coordinated buildings.”
ILove Foundation signed an agreement with PDP Architects last December 2018 to create designs in line with United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
With years of experience in development work, Lopez believes that the design of the structures is important. “What I’ve experienced in development work, the design is everything. Kung maganda ang design, pupunta ang tao. Kung maganda ang design, aangat ang ekonomiya,” she explained. (If the designs are good, people will come to the place. If the designs are good, it will boost the economy.)
Lopez also pointed out the three main criteria for the designs and construction of the structures. They should be environment-friendly, culturally – attuned to the place, and typhoon-resilient.
The eight communities which have the chance to jumpstart their projects and businesses through the help of different ILove Foundation partners are the following: University of the Cordilleras in Tublay, Benguet; Agap Bulusan in Bulusan, Sorsogon; Busikong Greenland MPC in Upi, Maguindanao; RIC- Kapeng Maramag, Inc. in Maramag, Bukidnon; Yellowboat of Hope Foundation in Sta.
